Abstract

Pycamilon - N-nicotinoyl-GABA is a new vasoactive drug with nootropic properties.  It has anti-amnesic activity on two models of amnesia of passive avoidance response, caused by maximum electro shock and scopolamine on mice.  Pycamilon increases exploratory behavior in open field.  In comparison with the known nootropic drugs, pycamilon produces a specific antiamnestic effecy in lower doses, than piracetam, etiracetam, aniracetam.  Effects of deanol, aceglumat, centrophenoxine, and pycamilon, received in the same doses, are similar. But pycamilon is less potent than nicergoline.
